Well I wasn't about to waste another day fishing Lk Washington for cutts until the bite picks up so I hit up my local river. I started later than I would have liked, 5:30am, and saw one person leaving river as I made my way down to the first hole of the morning. I brought two rods with me, one set up for side drifting, the other for float fishing and both delivered. My first 3 fish were suckers, poor mans bone fish, and they took my green tube jig fished under a mini float. To be honest, they were at least as much fun to fight if not more so than the trout I caught. These fish will run on you and try to get into the main current to make a get away, on ultra light tackle they are a blast. All three bows I caught took a side drifted mini hoochie and put on an aerial show but really didn't test my gear. The trout weren't the biggest, but were nice and deep for river bows and looked to be in great shape. I was off the river by 8:00am and home just as the wife and kid were getting out of bed. I'd have rated this a 4, but the rating pull down is stuck at 3.
