Took a couple hours to try out the lake again. Fished with my friend David and AaronE met us down there as well. A beautiful night but no takers. Ended up only having one bite at the end. There was one place where a fish rolled about 10 feet in front of my tube, knowing that my fins cant break water that far ahead. I know they are in there but with the amount of cover they may just have way too many hiding places at the moment.

That sucks. Did any of you guys try throwing a frog?

Yeah, I was throwing a frog into the pads and bringing it back across, no bites, no swirls or lifts. Mann's hardnose frog, pumpkinseed with yellow belly. Tried bringing a 6" black and chartreuse worm across the pads, nothing on that either. The pads are pretty thick right now, so I doubt they were seeing much action from the frog - I rarely even saw a splash when it hit the pads, so I doubt they were seeing much from down below.

I bet that place is rockin' in the spring before the pads take over.
