A near perfect day of fishing! The weather was brisk, the sky was nearly cloudless, and the breeze was non-existent to slight; the other fisherpeople were courteous and polite; my guide/companion was excellent; and the fish...would make themselves known to be there as well. Arrived at the hatchery, at the crack of dawn, where I hooked up with my guide Ryan Hung of Reel Priorities. Plenty of space on the river where we floated jigs tipped with shrimp and picked ice out of the line guides on our rod. Ryan was fantastic company as he provided instruction and tips on how to fish this water and species, while exhibiting no signs of the patience he must have endured as I smashed his tackle against rocks, untangled line leader and terminal gear, and missed strikes from our quarry. I was saddened to hear I would be his last guide and hope to catch him on the river in the future. Near perfect?...well of course, a perfect day would have caught a fish...maybe.
