Woke my dog up at 530 and headed to the duwamish river to try and catch some coho. Started fishing under the Boeing bridge near Oxbow at around 630 and saw plenty of fish jumping. Some small pinks and some pretty good sized Coho. For the next 3 hours I threw everything i had at them. Pink jigs, pink/purple/white jigs, a spoon, spinner, and even a buzz bomb.....no luck. Is there a trick to targeting Coho (or pinks for that matter) that I'm missing? I normally twitch jigs so I tried doing that fast, slow, and at medium speed. I've heard they are biting close to the bottom but the duwamish is snag central so I lost a few jigs doing that. The water was really nice so I guess that was a plus but I REALLY want to catch a Coho this year......any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've had great luck twitching a jig with a pink hoochie, light jig head and I've been keeping it off the bottom. Slow reel with a little double twitch seems to make them bite.

Drift good eggs , but find a less snaggy spot!

Try salmon eggs.

I catch em on a size 3 spinner. Cast out and retrieve at a rate where the lure is in the middle of the water, in terms of depth (if the water I roughly 10 feed deep, try having the lure at 5). So not too deep where the fish can't see it (salmon cannot look down). Also, if the current where you are fishing is strong, cast slightly up river and allow the current to carry your lure down river a little as you reel in. If the current is starting to pull your lure down river, slow down the retrieve (the water is doing the work for you) ;). And finally, some days when I fish, I don't get as much as a single bite, while on other days, I might limit out in 30 minutes. (it all depends on the particular day). Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I'll make sure to try that double twitch and throw some more spinners out there. I try to stay away from using eggs as I have wayyyyy more fun using jigs, spoons, and spinners. I'll take another shot at it in the morning and see if I can get one.
