Arrived at Youngs Bar around 4 pm give or take. Just a few minutes into fishing, someone downstream of me landed a nice sockeye and another group below him got one. I had no luck fishing with spin n glos and salad shrimp. I hsould have stayed with sand shrimp, but I have a hard time keeping them fresh after the first day. I'll have to look online to see what I can do to make them last longer.

Quite a few people fishing...mostly crowed up on the northern end of the bar. I was sort of just before the point and the old guy was at the point. Seems like they were making fairly long casts. One my way back to the jeep at 730, I saw some sockeye on stringers. So at least, 5 or 6 were caught between 4 and 730 pm for maybe 30 people. I talked to the guy downstream of me and he says he also got one in the am and few people got some spread out on the bar. So they are there. I may go back today, but with sand shrimp if I can find some.

When you buy sandshrimp add some newspaper to the bottom of the jar. There own urine kills them and from sitting in the fridge that bit of wood chips are soaked with sandshrimp urine. And of course always keep them in the fridge or on ice.

You can always brine the salad shrimp with Pautzke

Laugh at me if you will, but I use regular cocktail sized shrimp. Sand shrimp are flimsy, fall apart and deteriorate too quickly. Glad to hear the Socks are in. We'd like to meet up with local fishermen to fish the Skagit, Baker and lake Shannon with. Anyone receptive, just give a shout :)
