Went down to the Icicle while camping at Nason creek (near Lake Wenatchee) Saturday and Sunday mornings. Pretty slow to say the least, Saturday me a friend went up by the Hatchery to check out the scene and wet a line. There were about 20 drift boat trailers in the lot and few people at various spots along the bank. There are not too many good fishy areas, but I drifted eggs under a float and my buddy tossed everything he had in his tackle box. He had one quick hit, but I got nothing. Most of the other people seemed to be plunking as they were kicked back in chairs with their lines in the water.

Giving up about 8, after 3.5 hours of nothing, we decided to check out the other access points to prep for Sunday. There is one good hole, by the hatchery, with a nice deep slot. Two guys there said they only saw one roll all morning. The shore st. access has an OK slot, but just a few trout were hanging out there, the stump hole looked slightly better but there looked to be more wood in the water there.

Sunday I hit the good hole by the hatchery, (there were only three boat trailers in the lot) there were two other guys there and they were wondering where all the people were. After a few hours the fish checker came by and filled us in on some details. He said the run pretty much ended about 4 days ago, there may be a stray fish here or there but better chance would be on the Wenatchee. The low water and warm temperatures caused the fish to head straight to the hatchery with no delay. That explains the rapid drop in the amount of trailers and people fishing there! Based on that it looks like the runs might be early and fast this year.
It was even very slow for the Native Americans fishing right at the dam, they only pulled in about few in about 4 hours.

I can confirm the bite is pretty much gone. Even the Wenatchee River around Leavenworth is slow. Only two boats on the water with us this am. Had two soft bites in 5 hours on the Icicle, another couple soft bites in 3 hours on the Wenatchee River, but nothing exciting.

I was getting a few soft bites, but found those were from some rainbow trout trying to get their small mouths around my 2/0 hook with a big glob of eggs. I saw them at the Shore st. location darting in and out of the shadows, I thought a couple bigger ones initially might have been jacks, but I think they were probably all rainbows after watching them all follow the eggs around and just nibbling at the edges. Too bad it ended so quickly.
