Got to the river about 9:30am which is a late start for me. Started throwing plugs in our usual hole, hit a few firetrucks and a dime bright coho. After about 2 hours I moved to another hole. Fishing eggs nothing... Then it happened! Threw a pink and white jig on and 3rd cast BOOM!! My very first Steelhead on the bank! Took me 4 and a half years but finally got it done!

Good job on your first steel bud. Soon you'll be taking mental health i mean "sick" days to go fishing during the week when there is no crowds.

Congrats, this is one of the more difficult to catch. I still remember my first one back in 2001 on the Elwha River. I look forward to making it back there again if it ever does re-open to fishing. Nice job and great picture

Congrats, but demerit points for fishing off the rocks at Fortson.

I caught my first steelhead surrounded by anglers at Blue Creek. I'll never forget it or that fish. No demerit points here, over you're lifetime of fishing you'll catch em at terminal fisheries and out on your own. Getting the first one out of the way gives you more confidence to strike out on your own now that you know what it's about. Good job!
