I read Mark Yuasa's article in the seattle times that the state opened tokul creek. I've never fished it before so I got a few tips on how to fish it from the previous posts. I was rigged up with a float and going to use cured eggs. Quickly realized that a float was not necessary. Just switched it up to eggs with no lead at first. I made about 15 casts behind a semi fishy looking log, thought I was snagged (and kind of was) but felt some pull from a fish. Lucky to get it off of whatever I was hung up on. The fish ran downstream then back up. Then straight through my legs. Never had a fish do that before. It took off downstream and I followed. I'm not wearing felt soles and my boots were beyond slippery. That resulted in a face plant that did more to wake me up than a pot of coffee. Actually landed the fish, only about a 5 pound hen. I had cured eggs last season and added anise to them. I fished a couple more hours with no more luck. Saw one guy walking out early with a couple fish the looked to be more in the 12 pound range, looked like quality fish. Not sure how many fish were getting caught, what I do know us there were a lot of guys for a Monday morning. Like a lot of posts said, you should expect company. Everyone I met were very friendly though. That was a nice surprise. It's a shallow fast creek with plenty of snags so if going there for the first time be prepared. Cooking the fish up right now so that's all for now. Have fun out there! Oh, forgot to mention I got to buy a new phone today after submerging my current one. Maybe I need a less expensive hobby...like golf. Nah.

Ha! that's hilarious. I bought a "life proof" case at the store, with the new phone costing what it did, I am sure I'll be glad I invested 100 bucks on the phone case. I should probably invest in some better soles for my boots, the ones I have now are lethal.

That's why I got the Galaxy 5S, supposed to be able to get dunked! Funny story! I bet the guys watching got a good laugh watching you interact with that fish! Thanks for the tips.

FYI - In a pinch, a Ziplock bag will do the trick. The touch screen features will still work through the bag and the audio is just fine as well.

ha! it was subconscious, I wanted and needed a new phone anyway! What I'm amazed by is the fact that it was ruined at all. I must have looked like a real moron completely submerging myself in 6 inches of water. I literally have no idea how it was even physically possible to get it wet. I actually had a typo in my original post, I meant to say the fish was 50 lbs, not 5 lbs, so you see, it was the fish that pulled me over. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
