Hit the Green River in Auburn today to fish for Chum with my buddy Robb. Honestly, the fishing was a little slow, but man did it turn out to be a great day on the river! We each hooked up several times. I ended up going 3/3. Chum are always fun because they are unpredictable and pound for pound they are strong fighters.
My third fish turned out to be a Monster. This guy was hot and full of attitude from the start. Peeled about 50 yards of line in his first run. I followed him down river a bit to make sure he didn't spool me. Made a half dozen more runs. Every time I gained some ground on him he'd peel of another 15-20 yards!
It turned into an epic 15-20 minute battle. The guys around me thought the fish was foul hooked and were implying I should break it off. I really wasn't sure myself, but decided that either way to try to get beast to shore and unhook it. Finally when I was about ready to give up he came in. Had him hooked right in the corner of his mouth. He was just a monster!!!
Biggest Chum I have ever seen. Guessing 25+ lbs! Released safe and sound to swim up river and make Chummy babies.
