So work had me ending my day Friday in the Bremerton area and had a float trip planned on the Queets Sunday with a native American guide. So spent the night in McCleary hoping to get an jump start on the weekend and hit some spots Saturday before meeting my friends in Amanda Park later that day.

What I didn't plan on was for the amount of rain that fell overnight over on by Grays Harbor so woke up Saturday morning with not a lot of hope of finding silver in them there rivers! Decided to head straight to the Humptulips and see if I could find a spot that was clear to fish. Got to Stevens creek and it was blown out! The only clear water was right in front of the mouth of the creek and of course that was packed with people~ texted a friend of mine over there to see if he any other idea's and told me he had a spot on his boat and was just about to float by there and I was welcome to jump aboard! Of course I accepted and pretty soon he came down the boat shoot above the hatchery and came over to pick me up. The water was a chocolate milk color and he said had come up to 3700 over night so was going to find some inlets with some clear water where the fish could see.

Found a place called the helicopter hole and got back in and started tossing some jigs at 'em as they were rolling! I was jigging in when WHAM! Felt a tug and pulled back and a beautiful chrome hen came up out of the water and it was fish on!! Made some runs trying her best to tangle around some structure but managed to keep it clear and soon was in the net!

Ended up going 4 for 7 out of that hole with only 1 hatchery hen and had to release the other natives but did had a strange thing happen. The other guy on the got a hit and had a hard time pulling it in and realized it was foul hooked on the dorsal but looked like a cutthroat~ when we checked it while keeping it in the water realized it was a rare Sockeye that wander into the system once in a while! Unhooked it and let it swim away and he said they get about 200 a year that somehow make their way in the river system.

Anyway not a bad day considering the conditions and when we were done was down to 2700 and that boded well for my trip planned Sunday on the Queets! Stopped back down by Stevens and heard the only fish caught were by the guys over on the other side of the creek floating eggs under a bobber.
