9/26/2014 6:34:00 PMBe careful. BNSF railroad is enforcing the no trespassing signs now. The homeowners along that road are on the lookout for parked cars and will call the railroad police. They will hand you a $1000 ticket. Apparently we cannot park there or cross the tracks to get to the river anymore.

9/29/2014 12:21:00 PMThanks for the heads up Bmastro777 - I went out yesterday and heeded your advice. Although it definitely cuts down a ton of great bank access, I can fully understand the policy. Last thing anyone needs is a train hitting someone...just wish it didn't require a law to have folks use common sense.
Goldrigger1, I totally agree, I prefer chrome and healthier fish....
I'll just say that over the years, I have been amazed at some of the rockets I've caught as far upstream as just below the North and South fork confluence at Index that are dime bright. I spend a lot of time in Baring (where Salmon are protected and you cannot fish for them) and see chrome Silvers rolling constantly in September, October and November.
The fire truck to chrome ratio absolutely increases the further upstream you go...but I've also caught fire truck Coho in the Snohomish as well. My theory is that it has more to do with point of origin...and how far their travel back is that kicks off the deterioration clock. E.g. an upriver Columbia river bright vs. a fish who's point of origin was a small tributary at the mouth of the Columbia. If the upriver started to deteriorate at the same time and rate as the costal tributary fish...nothing would make all the way up to Kettle Falls etc...
