Hit the Skagit with Bassplayer17 to go after some chromers. Went down river from Mt. Vernon and probably should have gone up. Didn't see one jumper, maybe one roller. Pulled Brads #74 in the holes and stayed in about 12-14' of water most of the time from early morning working our way back up river. Came to the MV launch and decided we would troll up to the bridge and call it a day...all in all it was a good shake-down run for my new sled. About 10 minutes after letting the plugs out my medium steelhead rod with 15lb Izorline goes off and I thought we snagged a log at first but line was peeling off too fast to be a snag. Once in my hands it's clear...fish on! A few minutes into the battle and it's also clear this is not a Coho but a nice King. Ran up river, down river, to both sides and took me all around the boat with Tony expertly chasing on the kicker. Noticed I was almost out of line and luckily just about that time we started making up some ground. A couple runs later she started to let up and I could feel the fish coming in - popped to the surface and safely released! High fivin' white guys!

I give this a 5 because this is by far my biggest fish ever caught. Got the hooks out and snapped a few pics. ...with quick pics taken she was immediately returned to the water, revived and swam away with vigor. No scale was used but estimates are between 38-40 pounds and somewhere around 40-46".

Tight lines!
