Arrived at the hatchery at 8:30 and hit the may creek hole at first with no luck. Headed down to the cedar hole with no one catching anything. We left after about 1 hour after I hooked a big red coho. Decided to park at a different place and walk a section of the river. Water was a little high crossing sections but we managed to cross. As we walk down we see a nice hole. About 20 casts into it my float sinks so I slam the hookset, FISHON!!!! About 30 seconds into the fight I realize that I have a very nice chrome steelhead. As it get closer I see that this fish is a easy 12lb hatchery steelhead. My heart was pounding cause if I land this, this will be my first steelhead EVER! Ist try of getting landed it the fish was half way on the beach and it happened again on the second try. As I get it closer I think to myself I just got to get this fish on the bank. As im fighting it, it just took a last run and SPIT THE HOOK!!!!!!! NO!!!! My heart just sunk. Well good thing my gopro was rolling cause I got some good footage of the 4min fight. Well My quest is still on but should have ended today. Next time im bringing a net. Later I missed another one and just explored a new section of the river which ive never seen. What a fun day and yes we were in the crazy wind and downpour but hey thats fishing! Tight Lines Everyone
