I figured I'd go out for a couple hours. Cold, Windy at the Big Eddy. I decided to try a hammered gold spoon for the heck of it. I was using my trout pole since my salmon pole had a bobber/jig on it. Second cast and fish on! It was a fun fight. Another fisherman got his net and netted it for me. It was a 10 pound native COHO. It looked real nice too. We took a picture and let it go. after that nothing and I lost my spoon.

I just took up fishing this October. so far One Chum, one Steelhead, and one Coho.

Congrats! I also have a gold spoon and use it on my bait caster. I'm hoping for good luck using that!

Hey Brian! Congrats on that Coho! I was one out there with you without the net. That was a great catch.

Spoon should be part of any Steelhead Fisherman's arsenal. Totally under utilized now days. I guess it's just to easy to watch a bobber all day. Try em, they will produce.

Brian I was the other fortunate fisherman to witness the epic battle yesterday. Ended up helping you secure the rather large COHO. One of the nicest and biggest I've personally seen this year. Great watching a new fisherman really enjoying himself. Congrats made my day just watching.

That is cool and glad you had some help from one of the good guys! I fish spoons up there a bit and even back a month or two ago never hooked a coho!

Not sure what comments were posted after mine as for some reason the moderator removed the proceeding comments. However it clearly states on page 13 of the WDFW regs the handling rules for salmon and trout. I am not trying to be negative (by quoting regulations )I am just thinking it pays to know the regulations instead of paying fines, and have seen the result of poorly handled released fish.
