Day off to go fishing and a dang cold and wet front moved in. We had already made plans to run a three boat convoy to fish the lower Stilliguamish as it opened for steelhead December 1. Gringo Pescador in his toon, Zack, Brianna, and Cody in Zack’s drift boat, and me and my friend Robbie in my pontoon. So with hopes of the river not being totally blown out we met at 6:30am at Haller, planning to float to the I-5 take-out.
The river was already high and off-colored as the sky lightened up. But, we were not being rained on, and it was a comfortable morning, so what the heck!
Long report short, we ran an ever rising river that went up four feet by the time we hit the take out, about 3 hours later. No fish, but lot’s of debris! Cody did hook something but it came off.
All the same, I always enjoy getting out and seeing a new stretch of water, so it wasn’t a total loss. Thanks to everyone for showing up and joining me on a very low odds fishing outing.
