After a month of having too many things going on, I was finally able to get a day on the river. My friend Matt gave me a call and wanted to fish the Skok since the area opened up on the 16th.
The morning started out foggy, as it has the last couple of weeks. The drive was great until we hit traffic around Portland Ave. on 512. 45 minutes and 3 miles later we were on I5 at cruising speed. The rest of the drive to the hole was great. Parked near Hunter farms and hiked in about a half mile to the spot. Surprisingly only 4 people were in the area we started at. Once on the water, it was fish on! The chum are thick in there right now. Some of them are turning nasty, but the brighter ones are still in there too. Line peeling, arm tiring fish that they are, we'd catch and release, long line release and just plain ole break off, once in a while.
With a great group of guys, coupled with nonstop action, we had a blast! Since i haven't fished for chum on a couple years, I forgot how much fun chasing them up and down the river was.
We both went home with smokers and eggs, looking to head back down this week sometime.
Even though we didn't hook our target species, I had an excellent time.
