9/22/2013 6:56:00 AMMight wanna check your map. Samish river is in Skagit co. Atleast the parts you should fish. I suggest you try closer to the mouth of the river.

9/22/2013 7:13:00 AMA couple things that are quirky about the Samish: 1. You have to fish the tides. Fishing is good from about 90 before low tide until the tide starts rolling back in. 2. Go to where the people are fishing. The mouth is the best bet.
Tides next week are goofy. Super early next Sat/Sun (like an hour before sunrise) will probably get you a good fish

9/25/2013 8:02:00 AMThe headwaters of the Samish are in Whatcom County, near Wickersham and Highway 9. WDFW has the river closed above I-5 because there is a fish trap weir and hatchery ponds above old Highway 99, and the fish get backed up below it. In some years the water was so low that, when I canoed from 99 to the mouth I had to drag the canoe over shallow spots. The salmon are very vulnerable under those circumstances and snagging was a chronic problem. Closing the the stretch between the highways for salmon fishing, rather than sorting through each fisherman's fishing techniques, made for more effective patrol efforts.
