It finally happened. I now know what it's like to be fishing when a school of Pinks goes through. GOOD LORD!
Since the predicted rain seemed to be holding off, I ran down to the river for an early lunch break. Many people fishing, but didn't seem to be much going on. Did see a couple colored up Pinks on the bank though. Due to the crowd I set up shop in a less than ideal location and started cycling through my Coho jigs. Wasn't getting any action or seeing much of anything going on. A guy vacated a spot that I liked, so moved to that location. Didn't take long to hook one. It took off like a fright train and let me have my jig back at 75MPH narrowly missing my ear. After I dug the jig out of the bank behind me it took a little more coaxing before hooking my next fish....which also let go.....and then another after that. The unintentional C&R thing was starting to get old. I thought that that was my chance for the day, but then hooked into a monster which seemed to stick. It ran me down the river stripping line. With some serious effort I managed to get it into some slack water and tire it out before dragging it back up river and into the net. First Duamish fish landed of the season! WOOT! Moving on... Turned out to be a large foul hooked (tail end) Pink. Which explains what a great fight it was. Got the fish unhooked, revived, and released. After that it was crazy. Went 7/13 total with about a dozen other hits that didn't stick. All were good sized Pinks, five bucks and two hens. All were good sized, all bronze colored, and all returned to the river once allowed to recover. A great time, but not a Coho in the bunch or a chrome fish worth keeping either. I rated the report a 5 despite the lack of Coho due to the fun and the size of the fish caught. What an experience. Of those around me that also managed to land some fish during this time I didn't see any that looked particularly bright. Things seemed to slow down again right before I left. I guess that is what it's like to be in the right spot at the right time. :)

I was there around lunch, met a guy from last year, probably upriver a bit from you, landed a nice pink but foul hooked, all I caught were fouled, he got a couple of kings on eggs and released, no kings today for me...was using eggs hoping for silvers, heard a guy say he got two down below Boeing in a boat yesterday, give it two weeks...

Congrats! Stopped by yesterday about 9am under the 99 bridge only to have a huge king spool me all the way down to the 599 highway rocks! Brand new Suffix line on it too! haha
