Launched at 5:30am to avoid the holiday weekend crowd. Motored up to my favorite spot and dropped the anchor. Twitched jigs for a little bit then plunked shrimp and just relaxed while I waited for tide to change. At one point while I was jigging another boat came in and dropped anchor right next to me, right in the middle of my casting range, forcing me to pull up my anchor and move up about 30 yards. I guess it worked out pretty good for me because once the tide started coming in, it brought the fish with it, I had my limit in just over one hour. Never did see those guys catch anything. I caught 4 and long range released 3 between 10:00 and 11:30am.
Also, I could not believe the large number of boats on the river in the dark and in the fog with no navigation lights. Luckily I was motoring slow because I came a little too close for comfort to one boat with no lights on in the dark before sunrise. Lots of boats motoring by in the dense fog also had no lights. If you don't have nav lights on your boat, please do not go out until the fog clears, by going out you are breaking the law and you are endangering yourself and other boaters.
