What a day! We went to Cabelas to look for a net since the last time we were at the river we broke our cheapo net. We didn't find what we wanted there so we headed to Sportco and found a nice net. We thought, well since we're near the Puyallup anyway and all our gear is in the car, let's go break in the new net! Got there about 3:45 PM or so, found our usual uncrowded but hard to fish spot and started fishing. It was a little slow at first but then we noticed the crowd down river was starting to pull in a lot of fish, must have been a big surge of fish coming up. We missed a few, then Brett got one to the bank. Started looking at him and noticed there was no adipose fin, so wasn't a pink. Scales were larger than a pink and no spots on the tail. It was a nice 23" Coho! Brett's first Coho ever. So we continued to fish and I'm missing fish after fish, breaking off line, losing all my gear, getting pissed because my line was getting too old apparently and I'm getting out-fished by an 11 year old. Brett hooks into a nice pink, puts him on his card and starts to give me his pity. Next he hooks into another big fish, gets it to the bank and it's another Coho! 24" female. I lost about 4 more fish, broke off more rigs on my crappy old line, and Brett gets one last pink to limit out for the day! I had several VERY large fish on and couldn't even get them to stop running before my line broke. All in all, it was a banner day for Brett, and my thoughts turned to ripping that old line off my reel!!!
