A good morning to be on the Skagit, I'm not sure where everyone else was, because I didn't see but one other person, and they were 1/4 mile away. Fishing from the bank in Mt. Vernon, my 2nd cast with a "humpy special" spoon and a big buck grabs it and takes off across the river, several big jumps and another run and throws the hook. 15 more minutes of nothing, so I switch to a pink/red 3/8 oz. jig and after 1 practice cast, it was 3 casts....3 fish. Another short break in the action, hooked a nice one and lost her after a short battle. Threw right back in the same spot, and # 4 was in the bag. One was small, but decided to keep her, and will stuff and bake her for dinner, the others are smoker bound. I even had time to stop and get cream for my wifes' coffee and get home before she got up. There are good numbers of fish coming in with each high tide, so get out there and do some catchin'.
