Today I fished Kitsap lake with great success. I trolled a size 10
black woolly bugger on a type II sinking line and hooked several nice
trout in the 10-14 inch class. I then anchored the boat and began to
cast and strip woolly buggers in and among weed beds on a floating
line. Man did I have some action. I took three large trout; one 15,
one 17, and one 20 inches all from the same area within an hour. I tie
my own buggers slightly weighted so I can fish them on a dry line over
weeds and around structure without hanging up, but still allowing the
fly to sink. I tie the tails sparse and long with two strands of pearl
or black crystal flash on the lateral sides of the tail. I fish it very
slow with long pulls of line and pause frequently. This thing really
undulates and looks great under water. Maybe the fish are taking it for
a leech or perhaps a dragonfly nymph. Whatever they think it is, they
thought it was food, which is good enough for me. Good luck and fish
hard. Jeff Hale-Evergreen Angler Guide Service-specializing in
