This report is a bit late but here we go! The day looked promising but was actually hoping for more cloud cover but it was just a beautiful day to float a river and cold! Launched the drift boat at the white bridge and right away had a bobber down but missed it! Spent the next hour getting the ice out of our rod guides but finally got a solid take down by my friend but for some reason the braided line got caught in his reel and it broke off. We could see the fish hanging on the bank with the bobber moving around and finally got spooked and broke off the leader.
Missed another shot at one and finally had a solid hit and wham! fish on! It was a beast and made numerous runs and 3 times came completely out of the water. Finally got him to the net and it was a gorgeous 15lb native~ Was able to gently remove the jig and just before releasing him snapped a picture. Kept him in the water the whole time for anyone that was wondering so he was didn't need much reviving before he bolted out of my hands to deeper water.
Continued on down and hit one whole where a gal was fighting a fish so got out and helped her net it.. now it was our turn and as we came to a spot our guide said, " whoever makes this cast, get's the fish" and wouldn't you know it, mine goes in a tree and my friend makes a perfect cast and wham! Bobber down and fish on! It was a nice little 6-7lber and even though the picture doesn't do it justice, it was in pretty good shape and the meat looked fine. Took out at Black creek and called it a day around 3pm.
I gave it a 4 due to the beautiful weather and very pleasant people we encountered on our drift so overall a great way to spend a Satuday!
