I finally hit my goal. Double the number of Steelhead I caught last year! Sure took me long enough. Landed number 4 this morning.
Water was very murky today. Maybe 2' visibility. Light rain the entire time. Between me and the other four guys fishing, only two fish were hooked during the entire time I was there. I managed to land mine and the other guy lost his at his feet, so I'm going to consider myself lucky. After about an hour I replaced my leader due to a knot and decided to go with an orange/yellow combo jig due to the muddy water. First cast and the jig wasn't in the water a couple seconds when the float went under. Fish on! I took my time bringing her in as I really didn't want to lose it. I let her play out for a while in the shallows before tailing her. Not a large fish, but bright, tight, and full of fight. Tried for a little while longer with no more action. So, maybe it was just luck, but, whatever, I'll take it! She measured out at 25" long and 12.75" girth. So, a little over 5# according to the calculator.... Although I would have guessed slightly less than that.
