So, you'll probably see that I've posted two reports today. Well, I had the rare opportunity to go to the river in the evening after work. Of course I had to take it! I rushed out and got to big eddy about 4:15. I thought to myself, "Do I really have enough daylight left to fish?". There were a few guys out in the middle, so thought, "What the heck, I'm here." Suited up and waded out. One of the guys had a nice sized Steel on a string. I started throwing my float and pink jig out there. After about 20 minutes they packed up and left, so I was out by my lonesome. Started wondering how long I was going to stick around, when another guy came out and joined me. Ok, at least I'm not the only guy out here in the fading light now. I switched out jigs to a pink/white combo and shortly after I watched my float submerge. Gave the rod a haul and it was fish on! He was a fighter. Would get right up to me and then dart at my legs swerving around me at the last second. Made three or four runs like that. What a great fight. Not a huge fish, but a nice scrappy buck worth his weight in spunk.
Finally got him in the net. It was now getting pretty dark and the float was getting hard to see. Another angler showed up about the time I was recording my catch, so tried for a little while longer before realizing I still had to clean my fish, so packed it back to bank, got'er done, and got out of there. Left right at 5:30. Only need one more fish to hit my season minimum goal. Tight lines everyone.
Remembered to snap a photo this time and also took the time to measure him. 26" long and 13" girth.
