10/28/2012 5:13:00 PMBentrod, you definitely had a bunch or moving parts to keep track of while fishing. Way to lay out the patience train and make a family day of it. My guess would be, that the fam had a great time during the field trip. Since you had come home with some fish. The fam had proof there were fish swimming in from of each family member. Just not cooperating ones. Let the kids touch the slimy ones, you have at home....LOL!

We got there about 10:45 & shortly thereafter got into a tiff with the jerk that was slamming his boat all over the river waiting to drop his nets in... He was just being obnoxious basically doing donuts right in front of people. He ran his boat up on the bank right where we were when he noticed we were staring at him being an idiot. This was over an hour before they were supposed to be dropping nets. He yelled & asked if we saw "his" fish jumping. I said not one since the boats starting doing donuts for no damn reason... (not one of my more stellar moments). We left. Has anyone else had issues with them?

10/28/2012 7:41:00 PMGwen, well, you certainly didn't miss anything at 112th. That was the same guy who spread the net out in front of us. He also set one down where you saw him. He pulled a few more stunts around the area that pointed to the level of his IQ and apparent lack of experience also. Not one of the nicer guys out there for certain. The attitude of the netters run from quite pleasant to down right jerks....just like anybody else you meet. Sorry we missed you.

I'm sorry he was being an ass especially while you're family was there. I definitely would have been more irritated if my kids were with me

@ Bentrod, dude respect! Taking my wife fishing would be one thing, but I can't imagine wrangling two kids in tow. How old are they, maybe I am just not experienced enough yet since my daughter is just under 2 and my son is 2 months old. Last year I put on one of those baby bjorn things and took my daughter to the river and went fishing with her strapped to my chest. I got some seriously crazy looks from other guys and then I hooked up with a chum and bent down to release it and almost dipped her head in the river... Needless to say we did not ever try that again.

10/29/2012 11:41:00 AMI have taken my girlfriend out 3 times and her dad out or 4 times trying to get them both on fish and have failed everytime. Not ony did I not get them any fish I got skunked 6 out of the 7 times . I end up spending most of my time helping them out.

If I see a boat coming up the river, I always take a step back as you never know what type of person they are. @Jim...ok, that made me laugh. Another member on this forum did something similar with his daughter, only for bass...apparently Mom was not impressed. My kids are 3 and 6. They do alright in the boat, but need some space to run around and explore if on the bank. The Green is not a good place for that, so I really don't hold them at fault for their actions. They're just being kids. As your two get older and start developing an opinion you'll probably get to experience the joy.... ;) Of course mine are both girls too...hide the pink marabou less it disappear.

10/29/2012 11:54:00 AM@hooked....I believe that is just Murphy's Law. When you're fishing by yourself it seems like you can control more of the environment. Where and when are big and it's pretty darn hard to verbally teach technique.....My head was on a swivel..."honey, more of a short upright jerk...." then the kids... "No, don't climb up there." Back to the wife, "let it drop a little more.." kids...."yes, you can have a snack". Wife..."Take up the slack or you might get it hung up on the bottom." Kids...."Don't touch that! It's icky!" The best part was when my 3yo started crying because I wouldn't let her pick up a piece of pink yarn from the bank that looked like it had been soaked in some sort of scent. At least I can say I wasn't bored! Combat fishing ain't got nothing on me. :)

10/29/2012 2:16:00 PM@BentRod I envy you with bringing not only the wife and kids. It seems you have perfected the fishing multitask. I agree with you about the pink marabou though. My 6 year old daughter would have a hay day with it if I came home with it. I wish I could get my wife and daughter on board for fishing.
