You know that guy that drives you nuts? The guy that is pulling in fish when you can't even catch a rock.....?
Today, that guy was ME! Yeah, some will say I'm a dork, but this was the first time I've limited, so I'm pretty stoked...I think I've earned it.
Got to the river @ 112th just after 9am. Light rain had started. Tide was out. I took up residence down below the bridge at the big rock. Fished next to a couple other guys for a few casts before deciding I didn't like my angle, so crossed the river and moved upstream. Only took one rod with my Chartrugly II. Took about 10 minutes to twitch up my first buck. About a 5# fighter. Got'em bonked and back to fishing. Almost immediately had a taker, but must have hit the jig on the upstroke as I felt it pull free, so missed the hookset. Took about another 15-20 minutes before I had another one smack it. Solid hit and strong fighter. Made some good runs. Turned out to be a good sized hen...guessing 6-7 lbs. It was getting about time to head to work, but wanted to see if I could fill my punch card for the first time, so made a few more tosses. Took about another 10 minutes to twitch up my third. Smaller than the previous two, but just measured in as an adult. Also a hen and loaded with sealice. There was sealice on the two hens, but none on the buck....all chrome though, so WOOT! I marked the day a 5 as it wasn't fish after fish and I just barely limited in the time I had. Light rain was sporadic and no breeze.
And Hooked, it was nice to finally meet you. :)
Tight Lines everyone.

sweet, gives me hope for tonight! I will be fishing the golf course area. I just might need to try this jigging thing. spoons and spinners have been dead the last few outings, and they arent even sniffing my eggs. New cure was a bust I suppose. Time to open up the winter steel box an see what jigs are heavy enough to use on these little bullets. Purples?

Nice, I've been that guy in first line of your report for the past few weeks.
I think I need to change my jigging technique.
Well Done

Another nice job BentRod! Think it was oneshot that nailed the timing of your turnaround pretty well LOL (as far as saying you were due and it was about to go your way). You're really finding some consistency now on the jig! :-)

You were putting on a clinic today it seemed like every time I looked over you had a fish on splashing in front of you, Got to love it when the nets are up and there are no fish rolling no one is getting any bites and you limit. Another good day on the river.

nice job Bentrod! I stopped down there this morning before having to leave town and may have seen you starting to head over that way.. I was up on the footbridge~ I only saw 1 guy under the bridge and a another down by the rock.. Congrats hope to see you out there sometime! I may be hitting the Puyallup or Chico next week but 112th is right in my backyard so can easily hit it for a couple hours before work if the tides are right

What length does a Coho need to measure, to be considered a adult in the Duwi? I am not familiar with river rules. Just the saltwater rules.
BentRod

@Moto, First definition on page 10 of the regs. For freshwater and Marine areas 2-1 & 2-2 for Coho any fish that is less than 20" is considered a juvenile/jack. My third catch on this trip was exactly 20".
@ Hooked - I was certainly having a good time. How'd you end up faring?

After reading several of your reports, for some reason. I had thought your fishing attempts in the Duwi, had been filled with more fishing than catching. But filling a punch card is far from a bunch of skunks. A filled punch card is a good season. I am a few punches short of a filled card. But add in what the wife has punched on her's, and we are a few fish past the one card, punch full mark. Kind of lost interest after my third, full smoker load. Not counting vacuum packed fillet's ready for dinner consumption.

Moto, LOL...no, you were initially right, my fishing attempts on the Duwi have mostly been unsuccessful. I did not mean that I completely filled my catch record card....just filled my limit for the day. I cannot imagine completely filling my catch record card. Congrats to you though! I dream of the day I can even get close. I've caught more salmon this year than any other though, so I'm working on it!

Bentrod, way to go man, I am so stoked to see more folks jigging it and I ain't talking about under a float.... but then again, maybe we should stop giving out the secrets because if everyone turns it on like you are there ain't gonna be anymore fish, or they will wise up and stay away from Jigs... neither scenario is something I like. I tied up a new Chum Jig that is just destroying it, I am so stoked on it, I am going to tie like 10 of them tonight just so I always have a Fresh ChumBlaster ready!!! Great work, here's to some more stellar days rippin lips off the dirty dogs!

Hello Bentrod, looks like you know the Duwamish better than anyone. What is a Chartrugly II?
