Sounds like you saw a few more than I did. Maybe I should have stuck around a little longer.
Like Flossin said, I get some of my materials from Outdoor Emporium and some from the fly shop down the street from my house. OE is cheaper and the materials seem to be just as good.

They didn't start rolling consistently until noonish. When it started raining the roll picked up a bit more then it died almost completely when a few guys in a boat showed up & dropped nets across the river. Lame.

Yep I can ping those comments. Sportco, Wholesale sports and a few fly shops for the more exotic colors and stuff. Don't be afraid to open the bag up and feel the boo. I never buy it until I inspect it, sometimes it takes 8 or 9 bags before you find that perfect one. If you are worried about getting yelled at just ask for permission before opening them up, usually the guys are nice about it. I have only been yelled at once in the Fife sportco, and that was because the selection was horrible and I literally sat down on the floor and had 20 bags open at one time trying to understand why they even bothered to dye such inferior feathers.


Get your collection ready for Chum time, they are starting to hit the river hard. I went down last night for 20 minutes on my way home and popped 2 in the chops, both on a lime Chumsicle.

When it comes to chums and jigs, I've found any color works good as long as its purple... ;)

For some reason , green works better in saltwater.... ????

Now lookie here, I never said google nothin. These days googlin anything can be a dangerous idea but lets just set a standard that going forward the names of my jigs turn up less appropriate content on google image searches...



Purple is a great Chum color but I still have Green in my patterns for sure. My favorites in order are the Fire Lime Chumsicle, the Scarlet Harlet and the Bruised Hooker. In general I add some green into each pattern, and I always have two variations ready on any given day for the water color. One is with green as the base color and the other is with Green as the Shell color. When I say green I mean Chartruese not green because they are two different colors. For chum, I like the red flash, and I will often times tie in some buck hair under the rabbit tail if I am trying for that large and in charge look, it really keeps the bodies big and moving. The scarlet harlet works really well with Green as the Base color.

Sure a well rested and rational human being might pause to ask themselves, "is googling bruised hooker jig at 2 in the morning really a good idea?". I was in one of those "middle of the night, we're going fishing again in the morning, there has to be something I'm doing wrong and if I just read one more report all of the answers should be there" modes. It was a bad call. It's cool. I can admit it out loud now.
