Got to the river after work, about 4 pm. On the way in I saw a school of roughly 15-20 fish moving through a slot that was unreachable, but it was nice to know that the fish are definitely there. Got my line wet and had a bobber down on about my 5th or 6th drift. Felt a couple head shakes and then it was gone. 30 mins later I got my next bobber down. Set the hook and started the fight. Had a couple a head shakes and a few short runs but I was standing in a spot with a submerged log between me and the fish. Decided that I needed to land it in a different spot so I began walking down the bank and fighting at the same time. Finally got it close enough to get a good look at it. It was a king, decent size, probably around 15 lbs. When I got it close it spit the hook though. My gf was standing behind me getting ready to bonk if it was a keeper (not a king) and my hook came flying back and caught her on the shoulder of her jacket. Needless to say, she was not too happy with me. Another 20 or 30 mins later I had my next bobber down. I set the hook and this time it stuck. I started reeling and felt the head shakes, but it didn't really fight that much. As I got it closer, I could see again, another king. As soon as he hit the shallows he ran and took a bunch of line. I let him go, reeled him back, and did so about 4 or 5 times before he finally lost some of his fight. Got him in knee deep water and wanted the gf to take a picture of it for proof, but she grabbed my leader and right then the fish turned and the leader snapped. Guess that's what I get for almost taking her eye out with a hook. It was a decent size too, right around 20 lbs, maybe even more. Really wish I had a picture of it. Had a few more bobber downs with head shakes in the next hour, but nothing stuck long enough for me to get another one in. Overall went 1 for 5, which isn't bad considering we were only out there for about 2 hours. I was stoked because I cured some eggs last night and they worked GREAT! Not sure if I can attribute more activity to the home cured eggs vs. store bought or if there are just more fish in the system now. Home cure is the only way to go. They have a much better consistency and they last way longer. Only saw a few chromers jumpin today, seems like mostly boot kings though. Good luck and tight lines out there!

Hands down, home cured eggs will out fish store bought garbage. Surprised you're hooking so many kings, I thought they'd be hanging around Soos creek by now.

I'm surprised that I have been hooking into so many kings as well. I have heard that all of the ho's are a little lower in the system still. May have to give it a couple days or a week before they start working their way up the system. I have heard that sieku is blowing up right now and I'm wondering if this lack of rain has pushed the season back a little bit. Most of the kings that I have seen still aren't really booted out yet. They have color, but not enough to show that they've been in the system for any real lenght of time. Only time will tell I guess.
