9/20/2012 2:41:00 PMYou should try the pline voltage . I've been having good success using 10 pound test line as my leader. I use to run the flouroclear.. 12 pound test was snapping on me all day... But yea nice fish bro!!! Do you mind if I ask what you were using?

I have moved away from flouro for my mainline and back to mono. Seems like flouro will nick or fray and then it causes a weak spot. Great stuff otherwise. I currently use 12lb mono main and will run an 8-10 lbs mono or flouro leader (4-6') if the bottom is snaggy or if I need a lighter presentation. Of course my catch record lately hasn't really been giving me any confidence in my setup. :)

9/20/2012 4:46:00 PMI would try Suffix mono line...Ive been using it for a couple months now and i really like it...Its cheap and to me it feels like its 2lbs stronger. Only place i know that has it is cabelas...

9/20/2012 9:45:00 PMI have been using 10lb p line flouro for leader line when the tide gets lower and I use 10lb iozer when its a little higher. The pline breaks alot easyer. I use me teeth to break excess line off when tieing leaders and you can feel the difference big time.

9/20/2012 10:34:00 PMI find that fluorocarbon line just doesn't last as long as mono, which is a shame because it is so handy at being invisible. When it stretches from fish, snags etc. it doesn't spring back, so every time you stretch it is gets a little weaker. Unfortunately you end up having to replace it sooner, which makes it even more expensive.

9/21/2012 8:21:00 AMI tried the flouro for a while, but like Nate said, you have to be very cautious of it and do a lot of retying. I switched to 10lb pline cx for my leader and 12 cxx or 12 lb izor for my main. I use the cxx if there is a lot of debris in the water, I find the Izor frays a lot easier then the CXX, but the Izor cost less so I run it more then not. The voltage is good line as well, I use it for leader in super clear water.

I switched to 100%Pline Fluorocarbon for a while, although within the last year or two, that stuff was doing the same thing. I switched to maxima flurocarbon, very durable.
I don't use Pline any more, except for the cx leader line. CX leader line hasn't disappointed me yet, it handles abrasion very well, knot strength is solid. It's a little rigid, but I've noticed the supple leaders can't handle the abrasion.
For rivers, main line, I just use regular mono, it's cheap and reliable.

I have fished this part of the river for years and that beach that gets exposed during outgoing tides can be very productive as they tend to hunker down in the holes waiting for the tides to come back so they can move upriver. That 1st part of the incoming is great too as they start to move as more water comes flowing back upstream! I will be out there this week as the tides are good in the AM and with my job I can sneak down there before and get in a few casts. (hint- I will be the one in a suit and tie with waders on and probably on my phone a lot) lol!!!
