This one's way late, but I had trouble with my password and long story short I'm here now. Went to the Puyallup with my buddy, fishing for Silvers, which I had never done before. Matter of fact I thought we were fishing for Pinks. I borrowed my friend's 9 foot pole but took my own Daiwa Crossfire reel with 10 lb test (should be good for Pinks I figured) off of my Ugly Stik and threw on something that I now know is a corky.
We waded into the river and I began trying to blend in with the other fishermen, casting perpendicular to the bank and letting the lure drift downstream. After a few hours of with a couple of fish caught between the handful of fishermen there, I get a bite. The fish comes in fairly readily, taking a little drag out on me, but not much. I get the fish to my feet, just out of my sight, and wouldn't you know he refuses to surface. I struggle trying to pull him up for a while and then finally I see him. That's not a Pink, I yell to my friend standing by with a tiny net. It wasn't supposed to be a Pink, so he's not especially surprised, but I do yell for a bigger net as this fish proceeds to kick my ass for a few minutes. I don't know how I got this King in, but I did.
