8/30/2012 6:02:00 PMAlways check the regs before you go out, it's worth the extra hassle to prevent a ticket. You were fine fishing there, it's open for steelhead and trout though. It will be great to get out there and get those Coho come opening day. Thanks for the report!

8/30/2012 7:44:00 PMI was fishing at the ranch hole in sultan from 10am to noon30 and pulled in 2 ho's C&R'd and lost a 1 fat Nook. The nook took my only spinner that i caught all the fish with today.. ;(... so i pulled out the spey rod for a bit but nuthin

8/31/2012 10:06:00 AMMy rule: If you are ever the only one fishing, and there are fish to be caught, double check the regs......it's probably closed. I had that happen on the Sammamish Slough many years ago. I caught a couple nice Silvers and a Sockeye (all released), and just as I was thinking what an awesome morning it was, some guy comes to the bank on the other side and tells me the river is not open. Needless to say, I high-tailed it out of there. I'm much better now about confirming the regs, and not assuming anything. Good luck when the river opens. At least you have time to re-stock your spinner supply.

8/31/2012 11:56:00 AMThe river is technically open, but not for salmon until tomorrow. The fish you saw were probably even year pinks, I doubt many coho are up that high yet.

9/1/2012 9:36:00 PMWhere's the ranch hole located? I've been fishing above the mouth of the Wallace (last 2 months). I've hooked a few dolley's and a real nice size king that got away,boyfriend caught a sweet steelhead about 2 weeks before it closed. I'm looking for another spot even with low waters.
