Indians are not netting. They are crabbing. Theres more money in crabbing then netting for sockeye. And they are showing at baker. Was there on saturday and they saw 84 go threw. Ive been limiting on the skagit. I know that the indians are crabbing and not netting for sockeye cause I whent to wdfw office and they said no nets are in. I was on the river sunday till 10am and saw many limits. Just have to be willing to fish and not expect to catch... Fish on

Dont worry about the lack of fish at the dam at this point in the season. As with any fishery you can't expect opening day to be the best day to catch a fish. Just like with how the river is going now, the best fishing in the lake will start a couple of weeks after the opener.

Indians start netting today for 5days a week till the end of july. They have been netting out in the bay for over a week now

Hey norm. Have you called the fishing hotline and talked to the indian lady? Cause she just said "we havn't been netting for sockeye" "we have been crabbing. More money in crabbing". I have yet to catch a sock with net marks..... Sooo have you seen a indian cutter out picking up or setting out nets?

There was only one boat out today drift netting. They were getting 4-5 fish a drift. They said the river is still to high so most of them are out crabing. It looks like crabing ends friday so saterday i would not be surprised if there is 7or8 drift netters raping the lower river. Theres only 48hrs a week where they cannot net so the best shot at some unmalested socks is sunday and mondays.

That is not true I have friend that lives on the river and yes the indains are netting he has seen them out and there nets in water.the count should be in thousands by now and only couple hundred has came in so figure it out the bulk of fish return in June by mid July they peak.
