Got skunked at the skook! Didnt even get a hit! Did see quite a few fish with the water being so low. I saw a guy next to us hook up using a small pink jig and float. The fish looked pretty bright when it jumped out of the water and then spit the hook. Saw another guy up river hook up. And one guy on the corner had a fish. But that was it, pretty slow for the amount of people fishing. Some of the fish I spotted in the river seemed pretty fresh and very active. But never got them to take anything. I was also at the skook a few days ago, and went 2 for 5, and my bf went 2 for 3. He hooked into a really nice large chrome steelie, and we got super excited, but of course the fish you get really excited about always get off. And just a foot from the net the hook pops out and the fish sat on the surface for what seemed like a few looonggg seconds, and then swam into the deep. Before I knew who they were I saw a guy break off upstream from me and shortly after a nice plug came floating down to me. So I figured it was theirs. I walked it up to them and turns out it was a couple local fishing celebs, mike carey and nate treat! Pretty cool to run into them.

Thanks for the update. Been hoping the rain might bring in some fresh fish. That's funny about the plug... Mike Carey mentioned it in his report a couple of days ago.

Hey schu, that was me next to you guys - that was actually my third hook up in two hours on that jig. I was surprised at how well it did! the first fish on it was about 6-7 lbs and I landed her - bright, but a little beat up, I let her go. Then I realized that the hook was missing the barb and decided to keep fishing with it anyway. Then I hooked a darker, bigger fish after casting way upstream. He jumped, ran straight down at me, then jumped and spit the hook again. The one you saw was nice, I was really bummed to miss it! Probably the barbless hook, but that jig was doing so well! Oh well, there's always next time. Surprised to see that you guys got skunked! Good luck out there!

Yep, these late season fish can be super picky. They're starting to spawn and you really have to get them angry or find something that they just can't resist. The bright one's are more likely to bite than the darker ones, but it's 1:5 light to dark lately.
