Took the Jon boat to the river with my girlfriend again to get into some Pinks. Launched near the 522 bridge just before 7am. Headed upstream into the fog trolling pink/white Dick Nite's to start with. Anchored up near the mouth of a small creek in about 5' of water and fish were everywhere. Started casting out a pink jig. Switched up between that, Dick Nite's in pink/white and chrome, 2' Buzzbombs in pink as well as Corkies and Yarn. Nothing. Stayed for over an hour and a half without any luck which was both surprising and a little frustrating as they were all around. Moved up the river and found a nice hole with many fish rolling and jumping. Finally hooked into our first fish. My girlfriend actually hooked the first 3, all on pink 1/2oz jig. I ended up hooking a decent hen on a custom pink/white squid jig that I made. We fished this hole for about 2 hours, and there were 3 people in another boat across the river from us in another little hole, and they were absolutely murdering it. They had to have had at least 25 fish on between the 3 of them in the 2 hours we were there. They said they were tossing different color Dick Nite's. I tried the same, but for some reason didn't have the same result. Today I took off my clear mono and replaced it with Maxima Ultragreen in hopes that it may help. I always use Pro Cure shrimp gel. May go and get some Smelly Jelly to try and see if that makes any difference. I am just boggled as to how they were hooking up again and again while we were not hooking 1/8th the fish they were.

We moved up and down the river, and as the fog burned off we could start to see the hundred or so people all up and down the shores and on other boats. It was a circus out there! Most everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, but the amount of litter is really annoying and irritating. The Pinks really bring everyone and their momma out to fish, and many people who don't care about our rivers just leave their trash all about when they could just as easliy pack it out with them. If you are a litter bug, f**k you. Learn to clean up after yourself. Your mom isn't out at the river picking up after your lazy ass. If you see a litter bug, please chastize them with great ferocity in the name of Mother Nature and all that is beautiful here in the NW. If you are one that packs out what they pack in, I commend you and tip my hat in your general direction.

All in all a great day out on the river. The sun was a beamin, and even though we didn't lay into the fish like I would have liked to, we still had a terrific time out on the water. Being on a boat, even if it is just a little Jon boat with an electric motor, really makes things a whole bunch of fun. Now I just need to find a trailer for it so I don't have to lift it up and put it on my Blazer every time!
