Yup use pink corky pink yarn usally i use size 10 or 12 corkys and most salmon just take the baits and lures so fast but dont give a huge jerk or it will rip the fishes mouth you'll feel once you fot the fish on it would take your corky and yarn away from you it or it would move down stream good luck

I think i have fished where you have too. On the big gravel/beach area. However,the way i detected fish biting is i will feel the weight bouncing on the bottom and as soon as the bouncing stops and your rod tip keeps going down is a bite to me or it will be your weight or hook hanging up on something either way thats when i set the hook. Also i have yet to snag a fish this year so i think i am right. I fished the puyallup couple days ago and was catching more pinks than anyone else around me so i think the way i described to tell if its a bite or not works. As for the color, pink corkie and yarn works but i usually use different colors to give the fish something else to look at because you figure the fishermen downstream of you are using pink and the fish get tired of seeing pink, just my theory, so don't be afraid to play around with the colors and you might find your own secret colors. I fished last friday to sunday on the puyallup around 9 in the morning each day and all three days different colors worked best. Friday my best producing color was a light pink almost white corkie and moss green yarn, I know sounds odd but it was working. On saturday the best producer was chartreuse corkie and red yarn. On sunday my best producing color was a red/orange corkie and black yarn. So in my opinion you just have to play around and find the colors the fish want for that day. One more tip is to play around with the shape of your corkie and yarn as in long or short yarn and one or multiple corkies. I Usually use only one corkie and play with the length of the yarn. My best combo this year has been pink yarn with two orange size 12 corkies. In lower, clearer water one pink corky by itself also works well for me. I like to use different color yarn than corky, kind of gives it a bright contrast.

I find yarn is a waste of time personally.
