Another day in the madness. The fishing is starting to pick up but i still wouldnt say its hot. About every hour or so there is a wave of fish lasting about 10 minutes and then it dies off again. Every now and then it would go ice cold for long periods. I have been fishing down behind the Kmart on the Kmart side not on the crazy 70 man combat line standing on the bar. Went 1 for 9 today in about 3 hours. The area isnt the best for bank landing fish and with no fishing buddy i dont have a net man.

A word of advice for those in the 70 man combat line. MOVE BACK, you are standing way to far out on the bar. From my vantage point you can see who is hammering the fish and who isnt. The top and bottom parts of the line are way to far out. The middle section was on fire all day and they were standing farther back in about calf deep water. Everybody else was up to there waists in the river and not hitting nearly as many fish. The pinks are following the contour of the gravel bar and the majority of the people are standing right on top of the travel lane. Most of the fish are likely right at there feet or behind them. There were 2 guys about 150 feet upstream of the top of the line and they were knocking them dead. They were hooking fish at the very bottom of there drift which was either at the feet or right behind the top of the main line. They would holler at the guys and tell them to step back but nobody would listen.

Nice report and you're right about the guys. But they know what they're doing and you cant change their mind on that.

I think the main problem with new or inexperienced anglers is they think you must cast as far as possible to catch fish. So they wade out as far that it is safe and then chuck gear to the other side of the river. The river in that area is about the same depth all the way across so the key is find the slot (highway) the fish are using to navigate the river.
