After reading Brian's report on this lake, I had to make a visit myself after deciding to devote a little more time to bass fishing this year while maintaining my flyfishing discipline. Brian was right when he indicated the public "launch" would be difficult to find. However, one of the locals was able to direct me to the overgrown path leading to the lake. I was on the water by 7a.m., weather mild and clear. Started out flipping 4" green plastics with a chartreuse tail on a size 2 wide gap and immediately began getting bites from the little ones. My first big bass came about 30 minutes later after casting up against the reeds. A two pound largemouth must have been sitting right in the grass because the water swirled just as the worm landed. It couldn't have been more than a couple of minutes before I applied the thumb to another largemouth just slightly smaller. This one was parked between a couple of small pilings. Over the next four hours, I thumbed four more around two pounds and countless small ones, a mixed bag of smallies and largemouth. I even went to a 1/0 wide gap to try and avoid the smaller fsh but couldn't keep them from attacking the Senko's I was flipping. I'm coming back soon and will report the day...
