Jack Bauer and I got to the river late at like 9. My first time fishing the Nisqually, my dad always avoided it. It's great, the hole looks like a warzone. Fishing line off the power lines, the bridge the trees look like Christmas at Cabelas. Hehehe. Fished for an hour before I ran out of tackle. The hole is FULL of snags, other peoples gear can feel like a bump for the first second that you hit it with your drift. That's annoying. Broke off every other cast until I figured out how to drift it, my first complete drift I hooked a big fish, I'm guessing king, had it on for quite some time and it was real tired, went to reel up on him and I couldn't budge it. My leader got tangled in someone elses line. So all I could do was look at him there, tired and ready to come in, guys behind me commenting on how big he was. Another guy says, when you play him this long chances are your knot'll come undone. About a minute later it happened, my knot came untied. Argh. At that point I only had one more leader, so I snagged it up and left for cabela's to regear.

Wow you must be fishing right under the bridge or around the bridge. I have only gone through 10 leaders in 3 trips. However Im only like 2/10 on this river right now. I will be getting more soon. I found a snag similar to what your saying bout 15ft out just between the upstream side of the bridge and down from that bend to the right above. Had a 10lb+ silver on and after fighting it for a few mins it got tangled in a snag. It sucked. It was close to my largest silver ever. Oh well it happens. Im thinking I should hit it in the AM.

Haha. I might run into you down there, I'm gonna try it again but get there earlier so I'm not at the end of the line like I was last time. I think you and I are talking about the same snag, the fish ran under the bridge near shore after going all they way up river. I think I should've let it run up the other way instead, but fool had his line out and not sure he spoke english.

You were free drifting eggs or using eggs under a bobber? There are better holes to drift eggs then under the bridge.

free drifting the eggs. I know there are probably better holes there, but it was my first time at the Nisqually, so I was a newb, scoping things out. I use spawn sacs like corkies, drift them and I've hooked a lot of fish that way. In the mouth, so although I'm not flossing fish, the fish I do catch I can keep without getting a ticket.
