Took my fishing partner and wife Mel out for a afternoon of Pike fishing on the PO River. We started fishing about 11:30 and fished till 4:00pm. The fishing wasn't bad but alot of smaller Pike. The biggest we caught was about 30". We caught a total of 8 fish and we lost atleast another 7-8 fish. The water is crystal clear and temp is 67 degrees. I talked to someone who saw a big fish estimated at over 40" but the fish only followed wouldnt take anything. I had to take a break from Muskies so i could remember what a fish felt like after being skunked the last 2 trips out for them. Took one photo of the bigger Pike but then looked at it and said man that fish looks small compared to the Muskies we've been catchin so i'm waiting to post something thats a little bigger than a 30" lol.. Good fishing everyone....

wow. 30'' is a nice fish, you should post atleast a funny picture with one, have some fun with it.I am at the point where i am questioning my skills and just getting flustrated all year long this year. i am very confused right now about my fishing technigues and whatnot, i am a bass fisher man and have had the worst year in atleast 5 years now, i would love to catch some nice pike, since i have never cought or tried for one. If you can send me some tips or what not i would really really appreciate it. the catch is i only have a 12' aluminum with a 30 thrust trolling motot dont; know if i can work with that or not. Let me know if you can, i also hear you have a good chance f catching some nice lmb while fishing for the big guys too. t-webbs@hotmail.com. I guess you can e-mail me throught here too, i think that is my e-mail address. thanks again and stay safe out there, lets see some pictures.

Thanks for the post, I'm wish'n I was fish'n the P.O.R. for those Pike, small or not. Did you hit Mel's slough or is the water too low.?Are our favorite sloughs weeded out now? How about "One Bull Island" been there recently? It was nice to catch that first Tiger and more to come (Curlew). Good luck and good fish'n. Power to the Pike >:"":>.
