Dropped by the bar in Sultan Saturday morning. I was surprised it wasn't super crowded. I started walking over from the lot at about 530. A couple of guys were coming in as I walked out of the parking lot.

There were 3 or 4 guys already on the water up top when I got over to the river. It was pretty high and a little discolored. In my opinion (for what it's worth), everyone was standing on the fish (wading waist deep, which is where the fish were holding). I worked my way down the bank (wading) and on my way back up (from the sand) I hooked up with this fish.

I was there for about 30 minutes...got my dinner and took off. There were more people arriving as I left. I didn't see anyone else in boats (there were quite a few sleds on the river) or from the beach that had taken fish, but I wasn't there for very long.

I hate when people wade way out there like that for no apparent reason.... you're right, the fish do usually hold in closer to shore through that section than most people want to believe.... I guess the conception is that if you have waders you damn well better wade. I have caught most salmon/steelhead in knee deep or less water, waders are mainly used just to move from spot to spot.

Thanks for a good report.
