Went to the cow this morning. Got there at around 3:45, should have been heading home by 5am. I however could not seal the deal on my second fish. We got there and in about 3 casts my son gets one on. Chrome 8lb buck his first steelie. About 10 mins later he hooks his second fish. This one faught him a lil more. He got it onto the bank like a champ. This one was a lil darker with some red on the gill plate. Was a 9lb buck. A few casts later I hooked into one I fought it all the way to shore before it spit the hook at me. About 5 mins later I hook into another one. Fought it to shore and it took a few minutes. As soon as it got to shore my leader snapped. His teeth nicked up my leader. He was wore out just sitting in about 6" of water or so. I tossed my pole down and ran over there. I grabbed his tail and stuck my hands up in his gills and smacked his lil head on a near by tree. Without something keeping him on shore I had to act fast on that one. Not wanting to be out done by my son I kept trying hook up after hook up. I just couldnt seal the deal. We ended up being 3 for 11. Not bad at all over all, but man just one more and Id had been really happy. Next time. Hopefully this week. Oh mine was 9 lbs just cut em up man that was some bright meat on the 2 chromers my sons big one is gonna get the smoke treatment.

Pilchuck Your comment is really uncalled for. That is what hatchery fish are for. To catch.

Awesome job Pooh, way to get your son dialed in on his first metal. What is your deal Pilchuck? How are you so "all mighty?" I am sorry you are having such a bad life that you have to come on here and try and ruin peoples experiences.
Pilchuck, don't be such a pill.

"real steelheaders" huh? Since you think people that catch hatchery fish are so unskilled, does that mean you think the generations of morons that fished Native Steelhead to the brink of extinction are somehow better?

Comments like pilchuck's is what finally drove me from away from writing reports anymore..
I am not the only one..way to go pilchuck, way to go.

Wow! Pilchuck must be the best Steelhead fisherman around. I've rowing a Driftboat in washington fo 30 years and have caught more big native steelhead then i can count. Fishing is fishing and i'll fish in a mud puddle if there is a fish there, especially if it's a bright Hatchery fish that i can bonk on the head. One question for flinginpooh,3 for 11 do you have a file in your vest? One question for Pilchuck, are you a spey rod fisherman?

BTW, when you post a report you also have the ability to delete comments that are offensive to you. For the reporter, each comment has a "delete" link in the upper right corner. Feel free to use it for just such comments. Your son looks very happy in the picture, I hope the offending member has the integrity to apologize for his comment.

Nice report Pooh! Way to go, it's nice to see someone out there is having some good luck. Congrats to your son too! I didn't even see the comment that caused the uproar but it sounds like it was uncalled for. We post for the purpose of providing information to our fellow anglers, not so they can sit back and bash us on how we fish. To each his own, just keep it to yourself.

Congrats on those nice looking fishes guys. Sounds like you guys were on fire. I'm going to have to try some of those glowballing again. The big one should smoke well, mine was excellent smoked. You know Pooh your right, you can't change people like Pill and don't even bother wasting your time, he's already shown his true color - a moron. Jens no matter what you shouldn't let those morons influence your reporting, we all enjoy reading them, especially me since I get to critique them. Do you still have your dress on?

Your a great dad for taking yur son fishing, that is experience for a life time. I too take my son fishing (he just turned 14)often since starting to fish about a year ago. Any adive for a father and son team?, were looking to head up that way this weekend.

Pre tie alot of hooks. That would be my best suggestion lol. I end up setting him up sometimes 2 - 3 times before I get into the water. Hes almost has a full year of river fishing in now. And hes getting alot better about snagging on things. He has learned to get them off on his own and does decent at small tangles and such. But tying hooks forget it. Not his thing yet and really Id rather tie them to make sure they are right until hes ready. He just turned 11 a few months ago. Youll be seeing his reports soon enough and Im sure hell be out fishing alot of us, myself included. Oh and if you want to take him to crowded fisheries make sure you teach him about casting order. It makes a huge difference and helps from gettin other anglers angry.

After receiving a message from Mike C. in regards to a rude post posted by me and a little research in the matter it seems my idiot friends thought it would be fun to post a message on here while I was away from my computer. I apologize to all, as I had nothing to do with what was posted.

I am jealous! Great job. More of us Dads need to get the kids involved in the outdoors, instead of sitting in front of the TV and/or computer. Nothing beats these types of experiences (for both the kids and parents)! Keep the line wet......

Nice fish ! This is what its all about. Sharing experiences with family and friends. I cant stand the negative comments from members when people are doing nothing wrong! Fishing in its original form is about man trying to feed himself. If you want to be a purist, go on a hike to a remote mtn lake, not whine about people keeping hatchery fish in a stocked river system. Do you really think fighting a fish on light weight gear doesnt cause mortality just because you c&r. When I see a fish floating dead down a river from some elitist , its a shame full waste. Wasting fish is not a sport. I fish all the time but i havent reported very often because of the whinny attitude of some. Thats going to change. Every fish I catch i m going to show, just to irritate you so called better fisherman.
