My buddy and I got to the mouth of Blue creek at 1:30pm. Only 3 guys down there, about 8 at the point. Hooked a nice one an hour later or so and lost it. Then a guy hooked and lost one. Hour later the same guy hooks and lands about a 8 or 9lber. 5 minutes later I hook and land the 8lber, then shortly after hook and land a 6-7lb hen and released it.


Couple fish on for a second for my buddy, but both manage to wriggle free. Hour goes by and the same guy hooks and lands about a 7-8lb super chromer. Shortly after I hook and land the 9.7lb hen. About an hour before we're ready to leave my buddy hooks into a nice buck and screams some line out. His spool messes up and free spools out about 30 yards and bird nests up. He had to reel the fish up from the rapids over the mess of line and lands it. Awesome 2 minute fight ! Saw lots of people with fish. Had to endure a monsoon though lol.

There was only one fish caught at mouth of blue creek before u got there. We hooked 4 at the mouth but no fish, the point was the hot spot the first half of the day. Its gettin frustrating when u drive a 100 miles to fish and leave with no fish and everyone else is gettin lucky. I think im cursed at the cowlitz, no fish the last 4 trips. And im no rookie.

James I know what ya mean. I've had fish on but have not got a steelie in 2010 still. Its frustrating for sure. But I've atleast had family members catch fish so I've not been without. I think ill be headed down too many good reports. Nice job on the fish krill. Love hearing good fortunes.

jame i know exactly what your saying too man. i've made 5 trips at 93+ miles up to the cowlitz and still haven't got a single fish and i like to consider myself now a rookie. but im glad to hear that there are other people who are having great luck. good job krill

Nice fishin' krill! Thanks for the report! Sounds like it's startin' to heat up down there a little. Hey james, you're not alone. I've driven the 85+ miles down there so many times this season and come back empty-handed every frickin' time! Not to mention everyone else seems to catch somethin' and all I seem to do is lose more gear... VERY frustrating!! Gotta go get my license and hit it again very soon though, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!
