Apparently everyone that read my last report decided to hit the river today. What a gorgeous day. Ran into a fellow WALaker at the boat launch. Nice meeting you S.P. I took the boy out again today and he caught a 6lb Northern Pike Minnow. It broke his heart when I threw it back over the rail. I ran down to Tacoma Slough and when I arrived there was three boats in the mouth, so I turned around and headed back towards Cusick. I caught two 20 inchers at the mouth of Calispel slough and hooked a few more down by Everett Island. They bit very soft today and I didn't see any chasers. If you see brown murky water five to six feet deep....Fish it!

6lb pikeminnow is getting close to the state record, though I'm not sure you want that distinction. i think the record is just under 8lbs.

No, Pike Minnow is a squawfish. Just merely noting that he caught one.

Nik, You are corrext. The washington state record for Pike Minnow also know and a Squaw fish is 7.915lbs. AHHHH the internet is a powerful tool. Ya wanna catch a pike on the POR right now? Break out the Husky Jerk and twitch it or use a stop and go retrieve. They love um. Happy fishing
