Been to this lake three times allready this month, excuse but the period button on my keyboard isn't working, commas work, just pretend some of the comma's are periods, First day was thursday evening on the fourteenth, started by trolling a size 8 zug bug picked up a couple of soft hits on it, but noting I could connect to the fish though, a little breezy out so I headed to the south corner on the west side out of the wind, saw a few fish rising so started casting towards them didn't get any interest on the zug bug so I cut that off and put on a size 12 bead head hare's nymph, cast that out to a group of rises and connected first cast, with a planted bow about 9 inches, that fly seemed to be the one, brought two fish to hand lost seven others and had another dozen or so hits, all in that corner of the lake, pretty shallow there, but one thing I have noticed with planted fish is that they swim aroung the lake until they run into shoreline so fishing at corners always seem to work well picked up a few more hits on the way back in casting to shore and retrieving the fly water is still on the cold side but hopefully warmer weather will pick it up some
Went again on saturday the sixteenth, raining cats and dogs, but I went out anyway, only picked up one fish and two other strikes, I was soaking wet (no raingear, and my waders now have a hole in the butt) so kinda wet and cold, I left, wish I wouldnt have gotten so wet cause when I was tubing back to the launch a large chironomid hatch was starting that was around 11:30 or so,
Monday the eighteenth I was back again, nice day figured the fish would be biting good again, nope kinda sucked, only saw a couple of risers, brought one fish to hand but he was a jumper! The little guy cleared 2 to 3 feet of air four times! Still fishing the little nymphs, cast retrieve, a slow retrieve worked best but I only got that one fish and had two other strikes, not much rising either, Next time I go if I don't see anything on the surface I'll fish a chironmid pattern in 10-15 feet of water and see how that works, A couple of days of nice sunny afternoons this week should help, I'll try it again on thursday, tomorrow I have to mow the yard,
