Fished for two hours in afternoon, upstream of 96th St. bridge. The river was in good shape there - 3' visibility. Tried fishing with squid tentacles (caught last weekend at the Redondo pier), size 2 hook, #10 pink/peach cheater. First time I tried squid - its great - its so tough that I only used 3 pieces in 2 hours of fishing. Got one nice hit, tugged back for a couple seconds, but hook never set - I never saw the fish, but it must have been huge!. Just having a nice hit was exciting enough, as bad as the conditions have been lately. I'll be baaack.

Nice report doubleR. I've never tried squid before (thought about it while shopping for gear though). Sounds like you had fun. I'm gonna try to get down there sometime this weekend or early next week, maybe I'll pick up some. Hope this weather holds for a little longer. Cya on the water, good luck and tight lines!

Warning: I tried fishing at the 96th St Bridge again today (no fish or hits) - and some xxxxxx smashed my truck window, and ransacked the inside. My only consolation is that I didnt leave much in there, all they got was some change, and didnt find my GPS.

Ive been worried about that myself but have always gotten lucky and noone has touched my vehicles. There is alot of douche teens with no respect in my area of the woods. They go up and down the back roads alot. Sorry to hear about the windows.

sirfishalot: the squids are small, not many more than 6". Its not as exciting as hooking a steelhead - you can barely feel them on a trout rod - but at least you catch something. Got at least 30 in a couple hours- they come in schools- mostly before/during/after high tide. cut off their beaks/tentacles and cut body into strip, cure in Pautzke Nectar for a couple days.
