I tried to repeat my success of last weekend, but got skunked. Didnt see anyone else score either. The river was up a couple feet, and moving fast, at 2250 cfs, and dirtier than last week, maybe 1.5' visibility. All in all, still a good day - thinking about the possibilities of catching a big one with every cast!

Thanks for the report DoubleR- I know what you mean expecting a pig on every cast..but that's what brings us back, kinda like getting a tweeter(birdie) on 18 in golf. Where you at the Geyser?

Dang.. Seattle times just released an article on how the green is closing this saturday and then the upper at the end of the month. It's all good though, the low return of wild steelhead is very scary on this river. I'll sacrifice a month early closure if it helps.

Jens: I was drift fishing downstream of the Hwy 18 bridge, then tried bobber & jig at Flaming Geyser.
Smooth: Thanks for the update. Its frustrating to have the river closed - I've only caught one steelhead in two seasons (a hatchery fish) - makes me wonder if recreational fishing has anything to do with wild steelhead survival. But I'm on board also - hopefully it will help the return a couple years from now.
