It's a little overcast, the river temp. is 56 degree, and the Steelhead are in, does not get any better than that. Barb and I launched the boat above Buffalo Eddy in Hell's Canyon, there is a gravel (and rock) launch there that is not too bad, our boat is a 21' Northwest Jetboat, and rigs bigger than ours launch here.
We boated upriver several miles to Billy Creek, there are some gooog stretches af water in that area for back trolling. We put the lines in around 1:00pm, set the TR-1 on autopilot, poured a cup of coffee, and with cups still in hand, Barb's rod just about bends double and she is into what turned out to be the biggest fish of the day, the Steelie put up a great fight before I slid the net under it, we took a picture and released it for another battle. We got everything squared away Smelly Jelly smeared on the Hawg Boss plugs and in a short time my rod is almost jerked out of the rod holder, and I' ve got one on, this one was small, but what a fighter, she came out of the water about ten times, this one was bleeding so we kept it. Big black clouds started rolling in and a strong wing kicking up, so we decided to call it a day, and get out before the storm hit, we almost made it. Ken

Great report! I have fished for steelheads quite a bit this year up on the columbia and wenatchee. I have never heard of the Hawg Boss Plug. I looked them up... Spendy little buggers! :) What color has worked best for you down south?

Hey sellis_414, Those were really beautiful Steelhead in your last report, they were pretty bright. Regarding the Hawg Boss colors, I would say that candy apple red (metallic red), has been the best, but green and blue have also been good, another one that has been a productive plug is the Fat Fish.
