Met up with Goin_postal. We fished Barrier Dam slightly below the spillway. I was using chartreuse corky and tuft of peach yarn 1/2 oz weight and 5 feet of leader. I was running 15lb main and 12lb leader. It was still dark when I made my first cast. The bank I was fishing at was pretty sparce, but that would change thru out the morning. 10 minutes into it, I had fish on/ fish off for about 45 minutes until finally, I had a hook set in the grill. I would have rated this day of 5, but with combat fishing, anything goes. I got my fish on the shore, left my spot and immediately 2 people (newbies at that) swept into my spot. I understood, but I know I wouldn't do that. GP finally arrived and we both were, without bragging, had fish on after fish on while everyone else had to get out of our way. We had a double on at one point, with GP's monster King taking him down river. I lost sight of him while my battle was taking place. I had to maneuver between 10 anglers and heard the exciting yell, "It's in the mouth!!" My fish jumped, it took me upriver and finally I was able to beach her..I was upset seeing the extra fin when I was removing the hook. I should have checked the regs....The fish easily pushed 15lbs and was a chrome bright fall king and native at that. I revived her. Right when my fish was able to swim on it's own, a stranger called out from upriver saying I could keep it!! I tried to chase it down, but another call from downriver said I couldn't do that...I just let it swim away...Mother nature was moody today, with downpours, wind..sun...drizzle, fog...Gp was still there when I left, I know he is calling out right now, "Fish on!!" Tight lines all........

Good for you!!! Great report. I have to read the regs. and then reread them before I go because of the different regs. for the different salmon. Now you just have to go catch again.

Hey thanks everyone, Toni, I really need to read up on the regs like you suggest. I landed the absolute brightest of the bright chrome coho. It was much bigger than the one pictured. The one I am holding weighed 11 lbs (31inches). You can't keep native coho's at the Cow. I wish I were able to get a picture of it, but apparently you can't take natives out of the water either..(A lot of armchaired gamies)
GP, my honey and your girlfriend think the same, when it boils down to it, they just miss us (:
TT08- let's go man!!
Thanks mav! If you guys want to head down there, pm me and I will put you on those fish-
