I fished the Nisqually from 6-8:30 am. I used almost every color of corky I had. I hooked two fish, but they both managed to evade capture. The first one was the heart breaker. It looked to be a 8-9 pound silver, that thumped my orange corky around 6:30. It was a good battle, but the fish had the rapids on its side, and my leader eventually gave out. I shook my fist in frustration as the fish did a "ha ha, I got off jump". Amazingly, my fist shaking did not phase the fish in the least.
The second fish I lost looked to be a dark king. It may have been snagged it in the butt though. It surfaced at kind of a weird angle before kicking my gear back at me. All and all, it was a fun morning. The guy next to me lost two (one had to have been a big king; it ran upstream and broke his line), landed a dark king, and caught and released a pink.
I was a little upstream from the handicap hole. Pressure wasn't bad today, 2-3 dozen people in the whole area when I left.
